Hello Million Friends,
It’s been six months since I came up with the idea of how artists can help each other sell art or anyone else who could sell your art for you.
If you’re another artist, a student, a spouse who stays home with the kids, or even Joe The Plumber, Joe Biden or Joe Six Pack, you can sell my art and make money – 20% commission in fact.
Here are the links that I posted back in April 2008. They are the same links at the top of this page.
Oil on Canvas Wrap – 24″ x 24″ – $ASK (free shipping)
20% Commission – $ASK – That my friends is some serious cash!! Cha-Chaing!! I don’t think Wall Street is even paying that much nowadays!!
Here are the comments readers left about those two articles which are also at the top of my most popular articles according to my stats.

Chris, I think this is a brilliant way to improve the chances of selling your work. We have to try different things, and if methods aren’t working out perhaps another angle might. It just occurred to me that it’s like the process of painting itself – a combo of strategy and intuition, which can change from year to year…even piece to peice.
Circumstances change, and our work improves (ideally!) and style may change. ‘Adapt’ is the word of the day. Like Chef Ramsey says: “Change, or die!”
About the guy in the Red Easel article you had a link to, and him giving some of his work away – by doing that, he gives the impression that some of his work is literally worthless, and that he himself doesn’t value it. If we deem our work so worthless, it should not be given away at all, in my opinion.
On the other hand, we each need to discover whatever is right for us as individuals, and no one else can decide what works best for us – the final decision is a personal one. It takes strength, tenacity.
I think everyone has a route that feels right, and if it conflicts with what others say, have an objective look, but any final decisions require trust that we know best what’s right for ourselves at any given time. Takes a lot of soul-searching and honesty from the first inkling of an idea, to the last mark on canvas, to the well-earned currency in our hands.
May The Wind be in your Sales, Chris! April 30, 2008 9:09 AM

Yes, brilliant idea, I saw you mentioned some other avenues for selling. I find Twitter bothersome but do like FACEBOOK a lot. There’s another one called STA.RT UP BIZ but i left that one as well. I feel it important to stick with the sites that work as there’s so many cropping up these days.

Chris – I don’t think it’s christerical I think it’s beatimous!
I’ll have to try it with my art too – maybe we should all start an artist affiliate program!PopArtDiva™ aka The NORMAL CHALLENGED Artist™ May 6, 2008 1:23 PM

Hello Chris
Just wondered how you got on with the ‘Sell my Artwork’ idea? I was very interested in this when I first read about you doing it. Did you find you got much take up by other bloggers to sell the art? Hope this is not too nosy but would love to know how the new marketing idea got on. June 23, 2008 9:28 AM

Hi Chris,
I came to know about your site through EmptyEasel.com. I think that this is a really ingenious idea! October 19, 2008 2:40 PM
Well gang, I must admit great minds think alike. And I feel a duty to report back to all of you because inquiring minds want to know.I think it’s a great idea, of course I do, or I wouldn’t have blogged about it.
The fact that I’ve only been blogging part-time for a year makes me a mere baby in the blogging/online world. And since I don’t have a huge readership – yet – people haven’t signed up for the program officially. No, I actually don’t have a million friends – 999,999 to be exact, but who’s counting.
I certainly sense there is much enthusiasm from the comments and it will take some time. I don’t promote it as hard as I could. Nikki Columbe did post a couple of my paintings and I posted a couple of hers. Alyson Stanfield even commented and blogged about me. Empty Easel published my letter as well, so all of this helps.
I still have hope that we can build our own community to carry out this venture. Although there is nothing like seeing the art up close and personal. However, I did sell a Giclee last week from Imagekind. Unfortunately I won’t know who the anonymous buyer is since the buyer is technically Imagekind’s client. But it’s a great site, in case you’re curious you can click on the Imagekind button on my blog and peruse my prints there. The print is called “Spring to Fall”. If you have any questions or comments to add please do, I would love to hear them.
Pray For Peace,
Chris

I love the limited pallette you’ve used here. The purple beaks zing. How on earth did you choose to use that muted brown background? It really works.
love the new painting
