Hello Million Friends,
Since I last was in contact with all of you (from outer space), I saw Chic Corea and the original Return to Forever Band. Just felt the need to let all the jazz afficianados in the audience know. It was great, but I was a tiny bit peeved that I didn’t get the seats I asked for, and tried to fight for them but they wouldn’t have any part of it so I walked back to my seat with a rolled up Kleenex stump in each nostril to stop the bleeding and enjoyed the show.
The funniest part was when the drummer, Lenny White said “I’d like to thank you for buying our records and supporting us so we could make money to live for the last 30 years cause we haven’t made any more records, and that’s awfully nice of you people.”
Vocalist Flora Purim was my favorite of the band, but she wasn’t there. Apparently that was another version of the Return to Forever group. If you don’t know who Flora is think of Maria Muldaur, if you don’t know who Maria is go to Christerical.
I like all kinds of music except dixieland and I shouldn’t say this but I’m going to say it… “Mannheim Steamroller”. Their products include CD’s, Barbecue sauce, Candles for love makin’. So, you can grill your July 4 Barbecued Chicken, listening to Mannheim and steamrolling each other while the candles are lit around your hot tub! Okay, I’m getting carried away, but they would sell a toothbrush if they could get an angle on romanticizing it.
My Art Affiliate Program (How To Make Money Selling Art)
Just when I was about to write about my affiliate program I received an email from a reader inquiring as to how it was working out. Sorry reader, you beat me to the punch! That was on my list of things to blog about that needed to be addressed.
This is what the email said…
“Just wondered how you got on with the ‘Sell my Artwork’ idea? I was very interested in this when I first read about you doing it. Did you find you got much take up by other bloggers to sell the art? Hope this is not too nosy but would love to know how the new marketing idea got on.Thanks, Reader”
Well reader, I wish everyone were as nosy as you are, and I don’t mind a bit, it’s a legitimate question.
The odds of an affiliate program working are much better if a blog has a huge readership and people who are the affiliates, which of course I have, cough, cough, hiccup. A readership comprised of folks from all walks of life, working in all kinds of businesses, college students, retirees, etc. As of this moment the folks who read my blog are comprised of artists, some relatives and friends.
Projects and Outsourcing
I’m an artist and I have many projects to work on for the immediate future as well as goals I’ve set for the year. Along with painting, I have a bit more responsibility than I used to have in my personal life. It can be a bit frustrating at times because artists need to be producing, marketing, tweeting, blogging, tweaking their statements, staying fresh and keeping their resumes current, etc., etc. The list goes on and on, just like the tasks any business owner would have to work overtime to complete. I suppose I could outsource some of the business chores but I don’t want to put $$ into that at this time. If I do outsource anything, it will be the home chores first and then the business chores.
If any of my readers want to participate in my art affiliate program, click How To Make Money Selling Art.
Also check out my Imagekind website, I also have greeting cards for sale. On the first page of my Imagekind website it will take you to my paintings and you can purchase prints of my images at a very reasonable price. They mat, frame, and ship right to your door….it’s so easy. They worked with some friends of mine and the friends were very happy with the way the prints looked, saturated with color. Imagekind will take the print back if you’re not happy with it. You could also buy someone a gift certificate to shop there and buy art from other Imagekind artists!
There are so many bloggers on the web, the world is truly getting flatter and flatter, which is good and not so good. I’m a small player now but don’t blink because in six years I could be the next Darren Rowse.
I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed!
Readers, any feedback on the Affiliate idea, I welcome it. If you would like to sell my work you can be the second person to jump on the affiliate program. Perhaps you will allow me to sell yours.
Awards
I have been nominated to receive an award from Vikki North. It’s called the Arte y Pico Blog Award.
Isn’t it pretty? It looks just like Vikki, a beautiful woman with angels wings.
I’m thrilled to have received this nomination from from Vikki North. She is a dear heart and I love to read her stories, her art is beautiful and incorporates symbolism, fantasy, realism, and they are uniquely her own. Vicki’s really claimed her artistic voice and I wouldn’t attempt to compartmentalize her art, you must see it for yourself. What a powerhouse of talent this girl endows. She paints, writes, and has been an animator for at least 20 years in Hollywood. The list of Vikki’s credentials will make your head spin, kinda like these Barbie Heads that I pulled off my dolls the moment I received this notice. Wanna play?
So to my nominees below, your task is to pass this honor to five blog authors you really want to share.
- Andrea is a textile designer, painter, illustrator, she lives in Paris. Not only is she a fabu textile designer, she has created some adorable charachters. She’s a crazy woman with her sketchbook on the transit system in France. Sketching and coloring unsuspecting charachters and telling stories about them. Very clever indeed.
Priscilla, a new favorite, she can easily work with many mediums and her work is lovely. She is a Daily Painter, she posts paintings, etchings, drawings, silverpoint, daily. I love reading about the techniques she uses in her work. She has been teaching art for quite a while and if I ever have any technical questions she’s johnny on the spot for an answer.
This young girl is a breath of fresh air. She loves to draw and right now involved in a Moleskine exchange. She loves sketching and her mark making is quite amazing and beautiful. She drew and washed a self portrait in the buff. Yellow wrote about the process of deciding to do this. Her observations and comments are very humorous so are the comments of her readers. She is from the U.K.
This girl is crazy and I guess that’s why I love her along with so many other readers. She paints and photographs, she writes and just does whatever she feels when the mood strikes. An enigma for sure, that’s why she is listed on the 101 top blog awards for 2007.
Nikki is originally from Canada and has been living in Texas for around 3 years now. We met through the Painters Key’s, where I copped the most wonderful recipe from her for “Culture Cookies”. Yummmy! Nikki is an entrepreneurial type of gal, as she had created and trademarked products, she is an acrylic painter, photographer, designer, and general observer of life. Her life is art and she isn’t timid when it comes to taking on a huge projects. Nikki is a serious artist and her art is beautiful, oh did I forget to say she creates alot of mixed media and collage? There is alot of great educational information on her web site as well. I also love reading about her process and progress. She’s a doll! Happy Early Birthday Nikki!
Pray for peace,
Chris
