Do I Run With The Wolves?

June 16, 2008 · 6 comments

Hello Million Friends,

I just had to let you know that my newest work “Carrot Top” sold two weeks after completion. That means I’ve set a new record, New York… MOMA, here I come.

When the painting speaks to the viewer and they just have to have it, that means that all the passion, blood, sweat, tears and swearing involved in the creation of this piece were part of the plan, and I took the art to a whole ‘notha level!! It’s so exciting.

I also took six other paintings some new, some newer, to a gallery. While I was there the gallery owner went out for a smoke and that’s when I perform my patented, trademarked, and copyrighted ritual over the paintings for the saleability factor.

Pretending isn’t a new game for me so this won’t surprise you. Here’s how it works…. I put a special marking on the back of each painting and then when I’m sure no one is looking, I channel the “artsy fartsy fairy” and sprinkle my imaginary dust on those paintings. My e-book soon to be released called “How to be an artsy fartsy fairy and not stink in the process”, is a deep concept but it works.

Am I a “Woman Who Runs With The Wolves”? I’m not really sure, I just walk.

Karla+Devito Omaha Hair Cast Chris Marchese Do I Run With The Wolves?
Omaha production of Hair – circa 1975

As I promised a couple months ago I would have an audio interview for you with my pal Karla DeVito who I performed with in the musical “Hair”. She’s married to Robbie Benson his official web site is www.RobbyBenson.net

Robby and Karla met while performing together in “Pirates of Penzance” on Broadway and the rest is history. Karla has a gorgeous voice, and she was Linda Rondstadt’s understudy for a time subsequently taking over Linda’s leading role for a long run.

Robby wrote the musical “Open Heart” for Karla and they’ll be performing it June 20-29th at the Steven Sondheim Center for Performing Arts in Fairfield, Iowa.

The audio is about 6 minutes long, although I have more recorded and yet to be edited. Enjoy!

(6 minutes)

Pray for peace,
Chris

Hi Chris,
Great post! And congrats on the sale of Carrot Top. The interview with your friend Carla is really interesting. She sounds like a really cool gal. It’s great fun to the insight on her life and marriage to Robby. I’m anxious to here the rest of it.
