Hello Millions Friends,

My latest painting titled Blooming (see below) went through many incarnations before the final image arrived.  This is the joy of painting for me because just when I feel it’s finished I turn around, take another glance, holy mother it isn’t finished!!   The fun begins!   It’s in the doing and undoing that my process comes alive or not and produces what I feel to be my best work for the moment.

Every once in a while there is an evil monster in my painting working behind the scenes.  You know the kind that was under your bed when you were a kid?  You could feel it but you just couldn’t see it?

The monster must be conquered!  I take many many pictures along the way of my painting journey.  I look at the pictures to see what it needs, correct the sin with a few strokes, because one stroke changes the entire painting.  Have I created another sin or completed the work?  During all this back and forth the camera card occasionally gets left in the reader.  Arggghhh!!

The painting has texture and is vibrant, although it doesn’t appear on a computer monitor.

A couple days ago while I was cleaning I tossed a couple monster paintings.  I wonder if they will land on the trash mans wall or the dump?  But I felt better and that was a very good sign.

FYI, I don’t believe in monsters in my paintings or hoo doo voo doo.  It’s just fun to name the feelings that I’m aware of while I paint.  I do however believe in using a bad word now and then, they never tell you to swear in art books, but it’s important to be relaxed while working and if you need to sing, swear or whatever it is you need to do, by all means DO IT.
