About

Artist Statement

“When I paint the world falls away and time stops, this is my bliss.  My abstract works are colorful and deeply symbolic of time spent within myself.  Working from the inside out the current direction of my work is an organic, dramatic representation of self exploration.  Inevitably the painting and I have a dialogue and work it out to the end.  The destination always leads back to me.”

What People Really Want to Know

I was born Christine Marchese in Omaha Nebraska in 19fiftysomething.

The Beginning

When I was in first grade, Sister Michelle washed my mouth out with soap, I didn’t know why.  I was verbally creative at an early age.

Growing up in an Italian-American household was exciting and flavor filled. Garlic, garlic everywhere.  We were either cooking, eating, or talking about food, it must be a cultural thing.   My  mother, who is an artist as well is a great cook.

Home

We lived in a tiny 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom house.  So with mom and my 2 sisters Dad was lucky if the bathroom was ever free.  My father was very easy going, contrary to what many people believe to be the stereotypical macho Italian husband.

The Neighbors

Our neighborhood was comprised of Polish, Bohemian, Irish, Italian people.  We were all Catholic as far as I know.   Most of the people that lived there in the ’50′s still live there.

As a kid I was very sensitive and used to cry at the drop of a hat.  Not any more because I’m jaded.  Not really, but I had to learn about the birds and the bees from my little sister Mary Kay.   She’s still an expert if I need to know something about anything. :)

Around the dinner table everyone was talking, and they would talk louder if they wanted to be heard,  so I listened a lot because I didn’t have a choice.   Then I surprised them all and became a professional singer. They were stunned, shocked.

Many moons later I discovered that as a toddler they used to make me perform for them. A huge esteem builder for a toddler.  Honestly I love being the center of attention if I am acting or not playing myself.  Playing myself….we’ll let’s just say I feel a little  sad that I didn’t know that I was okay whether I had a special talent or not.

Everyone has a special talent, it’s just hard to find it sometimes, although it’s my opinion that existing and breathing and living is  the purpose, talent, goal of life. So not to worry, you won’t lose it because you’re the talent!.

Now, I’m smart enough to know I’m a being and not a doing. So as I move through this journey of life and all the foibles that come with being a visual artist I occasionally remind myself to just get out of my own way and let it happen.

I love painting and expressing myself in many creative ways.  There are times when I will go through what seems to be an art identity crisis, like right now.

Parody Bio

Christine Bolmeier’s art has been featured on the cover of the “The Construction of Deconstructionism” for the past 3 years.

She studied fine art under the tuteledge of Sister MaryKnothead-Smith. Her finest work of art yet to be unveiled was inspired by a kindergarten nosebleed that sent her to Emergency.

Much to the credit of Albert Einstein, her work separates the organic from the non organic and the cows from the cowards.
